The loss for the Falcons (12-20) snapped their three match winning streak, and brought their season to an end. The victory for Cedarville sent them into the final round of the tournament, where they were beaten by Walsh.
The Falcons gave the top seeded Yellow Jackets all they could handle and then some. Notre Dame took the opening set, 25-21, before the Yellow Jackets tied things up at 1-1, with a 25-19 victory in the second set.
The next two sets were decided by two points. Cedarville edged Notre Dame, 25-23, to take the third set, and Cedarville escaped in the final set, 26-24 to win the match.
The loss ended a season that showed a tremendous improvement from the 2010 campaign. The Falcons tripled their win total from a year ago, and picked up steam down the stretch, winning three out of their final four matches.
