Falcons 1-0 winners at Malone

Christensen scores for the second consecutive game

CANTON, Ohio -- Notre Dame defeated the Malone Pioneers 1-0 at the Pioneer Soccer Field Tuesday afternoon extending their winning streak to three straight. (Box)
 
In the 15th minute, Katie Christensen, with her third goal of the season, finished off a long pass for the only score of the match. Jayonda Pullens got the play started when she picked the Sandy, Utah, native out with a long pass over the Pioneers back line. Christensen put the finishing touch past Angie Nutial giving the Falcons an early 1-0 advantage over the hosts.
 
The Pioneers came closest to scoring in the 86th minute, when they created three consecutive scoring opportunities. NDC keeper Kristy Kolschetzky made two saves with the other blocked by a Falcon defender.
 
Notre Dame outshot Malone 20-12 and led 6-4 in corner kicks.
 
During the scoreless second half, the Falcons held a slight 7-5 lead in shots and were ahead 4-5 in corner kicks.
 
Notre Dame, now 7-2-0, continues road play tomorrow with a 4 p.m. match at Penn State Beaver.


NOTES FROM THE NEST….


LEVEL HEADED: Kristy Kolschetzky notched her 14th career win and 11th career shutout in today's 1-0, win. The Mentor, Ohio, native has not allowed a goal in over 297 minutes after surrendering a single goal against NCAA-I Cleveland State at the 62:09 mark on Sept. 22.  With her seventh victory of the season, the 5-foot-8 goalkeeper matched her win total from her rookie season, that season Kolschetzky went 7-3-3.
