LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Notre Dame College defeated the Cedarville Yellow Jackets 2-1 Wednesday night in double overtime at Korb Field. (

Katie Christensen scored the first goal of the game -- her sixth of the season -- in the twenty-fifth minute of the match. Cedarville made things interesting when Deanne Bradshaw scored for the Yellow Jackets with 15 seconds remaining in regulation.
It took the Falcons until the second overtime to earn their tenth victory. Christensen assisted Junior Forward
Lauren Kobylik on a goal -- her third of the season -- for the game-winner with only 4:34 remaining in the second overtime.
Notre Dame opened the match with early pressure earning their first of four corner kicks within the opening minute.
The Blue & White kept the up the pressure with back-to-back offside calls before Christensen and Kobylik both shot wide of the mark.
Christensen finally put the hosts into the lead in the 26
th minute with her second shot of the game. The Sandy, Utah, native poked a long bouncing ball with a header over the outstretched arms of the Yellow Jackets net minder, Christine Faulds. The play was started by sophomore midfielder
Callan Camin when the Beachwood, Ohio, native skied a pass over the Cedarville backline that Christensen finished for her sixth of the season.
Notre Dame would go into the break leading 1-0 on the backs of a 6-2 shot advantage and a 2-0 lead in corner kicks. The Falcons were also whistled for five offside calls in the opening 45 minutes. NDC's backline of
Jill Bush,
Jacki Coffman,
Emily Balodis, and
Becky Mielnik turned away the Yellow Jackets before they could muster an attempt against
Kristy Kolschetzky in goal.
The second period of regulation would see the Lady Jackets battle back gaining momentum outshooting NDC 8-6.
After not facing a shot on target in the first half, Kolschetzky got her hands on the ball for the first time in the 48
th minute when Arianna Pepper tested the Mentor, Ohio, sophomore.
The Falcons would respond with consecutive shots, first by
Alex Mannier that sailed wide of the mark, before Kobylik tested Faulds at 55:47.
Both teams would make a host of substitutes as Cedarville began to put pressure on the Falcons with long stretches of possession.
Kristie Wolff nearly knotted the score when she found the ball inside the six at 76:20. Wolff's strike sailed high without causing danger to Kolschetzky or the Falcons.
Wolff would have the next best chance at 85:26 when 5-foot-5 freshman from Centerville, Ohio, had a ball fall to her on the back post. Wolff's powerful strike whistled past the post for her second near miss in less than 10 minutes.
In the 90
th minute a foul on Notre Dame gave Arianna Pepper a free kick just inside the Falcons half. The junior from Hudsonville, Mich., lined up a desperation kick that found the head of 5-foot-3 Deanne Bradshaw. The Troy, Mich., native nodded the header down and past Kolschetzky drawing the Yellow Jackets level with the Falcons right at the death, thus ending regulation 1-1.
The stage was set for the second time in 2011 for the Falcons senior,
Katie Christensen to have yet another special senior victory in overtime. However after giving up the late goal, NDC was faced with picking up the focus to break Yellow Jacket momentum.
Christensen who scored the decisive triple overtime game winner in her final home lacrosse game for Notre Dame on April 19, found herself in position to cap her soccer career in similar fashion in the 96
th minute only to have her header sail over the bar.
At 98:29 Christensen would get the ball on the edge of the penalty area. The senior forward appeared to have doubled her score but Christine Faulds hand pushed the ball wide of the post.
NDC battled in the first 10 minute overtime period outshooting the visitors 3-1 but neither team found the golden goal.
Cedarville earned a corner kick in the 103
rd minute resulting in another Kristie Wolff shot. The shot would sail wide to the relief of the 118 home fans at Korb Field.
Three minutes later a Notre Dame counter attack found
Lauren Kobylik darting behind the Yellow Jacket backline. The Lapeer, Mich., midfielder took a touch and slipped home her third goal of the year -- second game winner at 105:21. It was fittingly Christensen who got the play started, feeding Kobylik with her fourth assist of the year.
Christensen helped her fellow seniors,
Brittany Cruz,
Jacki Coffman,
Anic McKay and
Jenna Tutolo complete a four year sweep of the Yellow Jackets, including two overtime victories. She also helped the quintet to a 20-3-2 record at home through their four seasons. However for the Sandy, Utah, senior forward it marked the conclusion to her second senior night overtime victory by assisting and scoring a game winner.
Notre Dame in the midst of a six game winning streak will head on the road for its final two regular season contests. Saturday the Blue & White travel to Buckhannon, W.Va., to face West Virginia Wesleyan in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
