Point Park beats NDC in three sets

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame Falcons saw their five match home winning streak against Point Park come to an end on Tuesday evening, as they fell to the Pioneers at Murphy Gymnasium, 3-0. (Box)

For the Falcons (1-18, 0-4), the loss was their tenth in a row, their fourth in a row at home, and their fourth consecutive loss in conference play. For the Pioneers (14-5, 2-0), the victory marks their seventh in their last nine matches, and their first ever at Murphy Gymnasium, snapping a five game losing streak on College Road.

The Pioneers got out to a great start, and found themselves with an early 18-8 lead in the opening set to set the tone, as Point Park went on to take the opening set 25-18. Point Park handled the Falcons rather easily in the second match, with a 25-13 victory, and took the final set 25-19.

No Falcons registered double digit kills, but #Lauren Turner# led the way with eight, while #Natalie Houdek# and #Jessica Suvak# both had four. Houdek had delivered a .400 attack percentage. #Tayler Pugliese# led the Falcons with 30 assists, while #Cristin Brown# led the Falcons with 16 digs. #Kelsey Swords# registered double digs as well with 10.

The Falcons are in action again on Thursday, Sept. 30, in a non-conference tilt. The Falcons will head to Berea, Ohio, to square off against Baldwin-Wallace. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

NOTES FROM THE NEST

CATCH THE FALCONS ON COLLEGE ROAD: After playing 14 out of their first 15 games on the road, the Falcons are in the middle of a stretch where they'll play four out of five at Murphy Gymnasium. Since 2006, the Falcons are 26-17 on College Road.

MULTI-TASKING: Suvak ranks second on the team in both kills with 135, and digs with 128. The Independence, Ohio, native ranks third on the school's all time list with 101 matches played.

DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING: Senior #Cristin Brown# has registered double digit digs in 15 consecutive matches this season. Brown has yet to register less than 10 digs in a match this season.
