Alex Mannier's Brace Secures Falcons Victory

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Lauren Kobylik, a sophomore from Lapeer, Mich., kick started the Falcons attack at the 5:16 mark when she received a pass from Juli Kovacs placing the ball past the visitors Kathryn Spellman for a 1-0 lead.

After picking up their first lead of the season, the Falcons (1-1-2) outshot their visitors, Rochester College (4-4-0) 23-7 for the game.

Jill Summers, a Senior from South Euclid, Ohio, would double the hosts lead when she smashed home an Anic McKay assist at the 28:21 mark for a 2-0 lead. McKay, a junior from Orleans, Ont., set the goal up after beating two Warrior defenders in the left corner. Sprinting towards the goal McKay laid the ball across the six to a crashing Summers.

Despite outshooting the Warriors 11-4 in the opening period the Falcons could not extend the lead further before halftime whistle.

Just over three minutes into the second period, Anic McKay picked off an errant Warrior defenders pass just outside the area. Going in on goal uncontested, McKay placed a shot to the back post at the 48:26 mark. McKay's first goal of the season extended the Falcons lead to a commanding 3-0.

Three minutes later, Morgan Lichtinger, a senior from Roseville, Calif., would send a cross into the box from the touchline near midfield. Alex Mannier, a freshman from Troy, Ohio, pounced on the superb ball from Lichtinger, taking a touch to avoid a Warrior defender Mannier sent the ball into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal at the 51:29 mark.

With obvious confidence, Mannier picked the ball up in her own half; flying past two defenders near midfield she entered the penalty area before beating three defenders on the flank she burst in on goal from the left smashing home her second goal at the 52:46 mark, putting an exclamation point to the Falcons five start result 5-0.

Kristy Kolschtzky a freshman from Mentor, Ohio and Brittany Cruz a junior from Amherst, Ohio combined to make 3 saves while blanking the Warriors attack.
