The Falcons hung crooked numbers on the host Yeomen in the third, fourth, fifth and eighth innings while continuing a hot streak at the plate. NDC pounded out 20 hits en route to what is their third straight victory and their 15th on the year -- a year that comes on the heels of going 10-39 in 2009.
Six Falcon batters collected multiple hits in the game, including #Pat Ross#, who went 4-for-5 with three runs scored.
Notre Dame plated a solo run in the top of the first but then Falcon starter #Matt Fritz# yielded a pair in the Oberlin half of the inning when left fielder Ben Kauder hit a two-out, two-run double.
The Falcons then scored six unanswered runs over the third and fourth innings to take a 7-2 lead. #Tony Younis# homered and knocked in three over that stretch.
Fritz was lifted after the second, as Head Coach #Nick Weisheipl# opted to staff the game by committee. #Leonard Mora# pitched the third and fourth, and #Justin Miller# pitched the fifth, with all three of those frames going as scoreless in the OC column.
NDC finished the game out, scoring two in the fifth and three in the eighth. #Chris Willoughby#, #Simon Davis# and #Tyler DeCrapio# finished up things on the mound for the Falcons.
With his 4-for-5 performance on the day,
Pat Ross is now batting .567 over his last 30 at-bats. #Brett Zientarski# also went 4-for-5 for Notre Dame. Both Ross and Zientarski reached base a fifth time in the game by garnering a walk.
Tony Younis went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs. With 20 base hits in the game, Notre Dame has now collected 64 hits over its last five games. On Tuesday in Oberlin, NDC got its lead-off man aboard seven times in nine innings. The Falcons went 8-for-22 with runners in scoring position, while holding Oberlin to a 2-for-12 mark.
The road tilt in Oberlin marked the first of back-to-back days of playing area NCAA Division III teams -- the Falcons are slated to host Mount Union at Paul Serra Field in Euclid, Ohio, on Wednesday.
