Junior #Benji Jarabeck# paced the Falcons with three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs on the afternoon. The Falcons (11-4) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. #Pat Ross# began the inning with a base hit and scored on a wild pitch, before #Chris Szabo#'s two-out single scored #Travis Brown#.
Notre Dame was able to score a trio of runs in the third inning, and then put the game out of reach by plating a half-dozen runs in the fifth. #Brad Morrison# started the rally with a one out walk and then stole second base. He moved to third on Ross's single before #Eric Johnson# was hit by a pitch to load the bases. #Tony Younis# then walked to bring in the first run of the inning, and Brown followed with a two-run base hit. Jarabeck knocked in the next two runs on a double to left field, and #Travis Bondy#'s sacrifice fly allowed Jarabeck to score the final run of the inning.
The Falcons were able to score two more runs in the sixth inning. Ross, Johnson and Younis began the frame with three consecutive base hits. Younis's knock was his second of the game, and it scored Ross, while Johnson scored the next run on a wild pitch.
#Andrew Hyde# (2-1) tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief to get the victory. Hyde didn't allow any hits, allowed only four men to reach and fanned three batters. #Leo Mora# tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief as well. The two teams combined to use 11 pitchers on the afternoon.
Jarabeck, Ross and Brown each had three hits to lead the Falcons offensively, while Szabo went 1-for-2 and knocked in a pair of runs. Morrison reached base three times in four plate appearances. Brown leads the Falcons with 20 hits over NDC's first 15 games this season.
Notre Dame will hit the road for their next contest, as they lock horns with Point Park (Pa.) in a double header in Robinson, Pa., on Friday, March 19.
