Falcons fall to Warner

Falcons drop 10-2 decision to Warner

Lake Whales, Fla. -- The Notre Dame Falcons fell behind early at Royals Field on Monday afternoon, and were not able to erase the early deficit, as they lost their first game on their trip to Florida, in a 10-2 defeat at the hands of Warner University.

Warner (7-11) scored early and often to defeat the Falcons, and built a 4-0 lead over the first two innings on a pair of 2-run frames. Cory Johnson's two-run double in the bottom of the first inning gave the Royals an early edge, and they added to that advantage by adding a pair of runs in the home half of the second inning.

The Falcons (6-2) were able to cut the deficit in half, with two runs in the top of the third. Shortstop #Travis Brown# singled in Notre Dame's first run, and #Tony Younis# plated NDC's final run, scoring while Brown got caught in a rundown.

The Royals scored runs in every inning except the seventh, and tallied 10 runs on 14 hits. Notre Dame had seven hits on the afternoon, but had only two in the game's final five innings. Younis paced the Falcons offensively, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

A.J. Holbeck (1-2) earned the victory for the Royals, allowing just a pair of runs on six hits over seven strong innings.

Notre Dame will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon, against Bethel University (Ind.). The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
