First goal costly to Falcons

LYNDHURST, Ohio – Notre Dame (7-3-4, 6-2-1 AMC) could not break Roberts Wesleyan (12-2-1, 8-0-1 AMC) in their final regular season home match of 2010, losing 1-0 in overtime.

The loss marked the first for NDC at home this season and their first goal they have given up in over 673 minutes of action at home.

The Falcons came into the match three points behind the Raiders for the conference crown. A win would have wrestled the regular season title away from Roberts Wesleyan.

After battling through 90 minutes of scoreless regulation, the teams took the field for overtime, marking the Falcons fifth overtime match of the season.

The Raiders wasted little time in the sudden victory overtime, Erika Luedke got in behind the Falcons defense before smashing home her 11th goal of the season and ending the match 1-0 in favor of the visiting Raiders.

For the game Roberts Wesleyan would hold a 17-12 advantage in shots, and a 6-4 lead in corner kicks.

#Kristy Kolschetzky#, a freshman keeper from Mentor, Ohio was credited with nine saves in 94 minutes of work for the Falcons.
