Falcons push home shutout streak to 580 minutes

110 minutes of scoreless action earn Falcons 4 tie

LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Notre Dame (7-2-4, 6-1-1 AMC) could not break Urbana (4-7-4) in their first non conference match in 35 days, drawing 0-0 after 110 minutes of action.

Both teams came into the match with identical two game winning streaks and three double overtime draws. The Falcons boasted a 4-0-1 record at home without giving up a single goal in the process.

After 110 minutes of action the teams would end with the identical score just as the game began, 0-0 earning each team their fourth draw of the year. Last season the Falcons went 3-1-0 in overtime games, with two matches to play, the Falcons are 0-0-4 and have played 80 minutes of overtime action, just 10 minutes less than an additional match.

The Falcons outshot the visiting Blue Knights 9-1 in the opening 45 minutes, held a distinct 2-0 advantage in corner kicks but could not find the back of the Urbana net.

The second half would see a closer game statistically from the Blue knights but the Falcons would hold a 22-12 advantage in shots and 3-2 in corner kicks for the match.

#Emilie Lamarche# and #Brittany Cruz# would combine for the shutout. Lamarche would go through the opening 45 minutes without facing a shot on target as the Falcons dominated the Blue Knights. Cruz would make five saves in the second half and overtime to insure the Falcons home record remained intact.

Notre Dame will play their final regular season home contest at Korb Field on Saturday Oct. 23. The Falcons will host AMC leading Roberts Wesleyan (11-2-1, 7-0-1 AMC) on homecoming, with a chance to overtake the Raiders for first place in the conference. The last three meeting between the two teams played at Korb Field have been won by the Falcons by a combined 5-1 score line.

Rudy Roediger will bring you the women's match from Korb Field scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. kick off on NotreDameFalcons.com, pre-game show and Women's Soccer Coaches' Corner with Coach Mike Shiels scheduled to begin approximately 20 minutes prior to the Falcons and Raiders kick-off. During halftime Rudy Roediger will visit with a Falcon player for the Falcons Halftime Player Spotlight.
