The Falcons (9-8, 1-1 American Mideast) were downed by scores of 25-17, 30-28, 22-25, and 25-21. The match marked the second for NDC in league play.
With the victory, Walsh (13-1, 1-0) remains red-hot. The Cavaliers have now won nine in a row, five of which have come on their home floor in North Canton. The Cavaliers have not lost since a Sept. 5 match against Trinity International (Ill.), and they are now 21-1 in their last 22 home matches. Walsh has now bested NDC in each of the last seven meetings between the two programs.
On Tuesday night, NDC freshman #Brianne Schmansky# swatted a season-high 16 kills, while #Jessica Suvak# and #Jessica Parks# both added nine. Senior setter #Kate Verhoff# contributed 37 assists. On the back line junior #Mandy Bastian# had 17 digs for the Falcons.
The loss for Notre Dame snaps a four-match win streak, one in which the Falcons outscored foes 12-2 in 14 sets.
“We had a couple of close sets, and we played them tough," said NDC Head Coach #Mark Ridley#. "Now we know we need to clean up the basics of our game."
The Falcons head to New York to take on the Raiders of Roberts Wesleyan for what will be their eighth consecutive road match. First serve at RWC is slated for Friday Sept. 25, 7:00 PM.
