Titans shrink Falcon offense in 1-0 shutout

DETROIT -- Notre Dame travelled to NCAA-I Detroit-Mercy Wednesday, and the host Titans handed the Falcons a 1-0 defeat.

Notre Dame (1-2) was done in by a first-half goal and a relentless UDM defense in the second. Detroit-Mercy (1-0) held NDC to four shots (two on goal) for the match, as their defensive backfield clamped down in what was their season opener at Titan Field.

UDM scored 31 minutes in, when Trina Kochanski received the ball in the box and pushed a pass over to Nina Carter, who then slipped a shot past Falcon keeper #Emilie Lamarche#. The Titans went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, outshooting NDC, 8-2.

In the second half, a staunch Titan defense controlled play. NDC went 29 minutes before they managed their third shot of the match, a #Lauren Kobylik# effort that was blocked at 74:03.

For the match, the Titans outshot the Falcons, 19-4. NDC goalkeepers made 10 saves over the 90-minute contest.

With the loss, the Blue & White head into a nine-day break. They will next be in action on Sept. 12 when they travel to Elgin, Ill., to face the Eagles of Judson University.
