Season-ending split

Big offense in first game does not continue in second game

CANTON, Ohio -- Notre Dame wrapped up the 2009 season with a split against American Mideast Conference (AMC) rival Malone, 8-7 and 3-0. Notre Dame finishes the year with an overall record of 10-39, and 4-28 in conference play.

In the first game, the Falcons rallied with five runs in the top of the seventh after trailing 7-3 heading into the final inning. Senior right fielder #Eric Pelot# and sophomore center fielder #Ryan Weaver# were the big heroes in the inning. Pelot knocked in a pair on a single, and Weaver followed with two more on his double later in the inning.

Senior left fielder #Jack Sito# also had a good game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a run batted in. Junior second baseman #Eric Johnson# drove in two on 2-for-4 hitting in the opening game.

In the nightcap, NDC failed to mount any offense, as the Malone pitchers held the Blue & White to three hits in the game.
