Weather and Falcon home runs drown out B-W

EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame brought their power out into the rain on Thursday, as the Falcons beat Baldwin-Wallace, 10-2, at Paul Serra Field. With the win in their final home contest of the season, NDC improves their record to 9-38.

Freshman shortstop #Joe Leonette#, senior left fielder #Jack Sito#, sophomore first baseman #Matt Brofman#, and sophomore center fielder #Ryan Weaver# all had home runs to lead the Falcon attack.

Sito started the scoring off with a two-run shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the first. The Elyria native leads the Falcons with five homers this season.

The Yellow Jackets threatened in the third, loading the bases with no outs. Freshman left-hander #Chris Willoughby# allowed B-W only one run before getting out of the inning with a pair of strikeouts and a liner to short.

Notre Dame put three more runs on the board in the fifth to up the lead to 5-0. Brofman led off the inning with a solo shot to left. Junior second baseman #Eric Johnson# followed with a double down the left field line, and would later score on a sacrifice fly by Weaver. The final run of the inning was courtesy of Leonette's first home run of the season, a towering shot to center, which also knocked Baldwin-Wallace starter Bill Bostleman from the game.

The Blue & White took advantage of the Yellow Jacket bullpen, roughing them up for five more runs in the sixth. Brofman again led off the scoring with an RBI single to right center. Johnson followed with a single to almost the exact same spot in right center to bring home a pair. Weaver drove in the final two runs of the game on a line drive over the center field fence, his third of the season.

Willoughby (1-3) pitched his best game as a Falcon, scattering six hits over eight innings and striking out nine.

Junior designated-hitter Scott Nealon led B-W, going 3-for-5.

Notre Dame will play their final games of the season on Saturday, May 2, as the Falcons will travel to Malone. The AMC doubleheader is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
