Falcons rebound from loss, defeat Carlow, 4-0

LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Notre Dame got back to their winning ways in league play, picking up an American Mideast Conference win over Carlow (Pa.) on Thursday night at Korb Field. (Box)

Seven different Falcon players tallied points in what was a decisive 4-0 shutout of the Celtics, who lost for the seventh match in a row. The victory for Notre Dame (8-6, 5-3 AMC) comes on the heels of a conference loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Tuesday (Oct. 20), and it puts the Blue & White back in good standing in the race for one of six berths in the AMC's postseason tournament. Overall, NDC has won five of their last six matches.

#Lauren Acker#, #Anic McKay#, #Katie Christensen# and #Ashley Rucker# scored the four Falcon goals, as NDC put Carlow (4-10, 1-7) with three of those scores coming in the first half. The Blue & White dominated the pace of play throughout - they outshot the Celtics, 20-9, and allowed just two shots on goal.

#Emilie Lamarche# and #Brittany Cruz# split the match in goal for the Falcons, with each making one save.

The four goals at Korb Field Thursday night mark a single-match season-high for Notre Dame, which came into the match averaging just 1.21 goals per game.

NDC's next match will be on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the Falcons close out a busy week with a home match against Point Park (Pa.). That contest has had its kickoff bumped from its original start time to a 9 a.m. kickoff.
