Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

NDC’s bench scores 46, but Falcons fall to Davis & Elkins

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The duo of RJ Ogom and Devin Haid combined for 36 points, on Saturday afternoon, and helped Notre Dame College take the lead, midway through the first half. But, Davis & Elkins College shot the ball well in the second half and made 18 free throws, to grab a 93-80 win.

D&E's Vadim Clanet hit a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game and the Senators did not give the lead away to Notre Dame until the 11:06-mark of the first half.

NDC slowly worked its way back into the game. Ogom made an immediate impact when he entered, making a three off an assist from freshman Aidan Filippini. Haid then stole the ball and took it all the way down for a layup, before Ogom blocked a Davis & Elkins' shot on the defensive end.

Ogom had his first double-digit scoring game since Dec. 18.

The Senators missed four consecutive shots from the field and Notre Dame continued making baskets to tie the game at 12, with 13:50 to go before halftime.

After Notre Dame tied the score four times, junior Joshua Dames put the home team in front for the first time. After a missed shot, Dames fought his way under the basket to get the offensive board and then put the ball up and through the basket, while being fouled. He knocked down the free throw and the Falcons led, 18-16.

The Falcons would hold onto the lead for nearly nine minutes. Haid hit a three, with 9:55 remaining in the half to cap a 10-1 run, and put NDC in front by a score of 23-16. During the run, sophomore Jevontae Jones made a pair of layups.

Freshman Robbie Cass pushed the Falcons' lead to eight points, 30-22, with 6:31 on the clock. But immediately after that, D&E went on a 6-0 run by hitting six free throws. The Senators took the lead from the Falcons as Sam Rolle IV went to the basket and scored on back-to-back possessions.

Cass would put Notre Dame in front one more time, 36-35, with a second long range jumper, however, D&E closed the half on a 16-6 run over the final six and-a-half minutes and took a 38-36 lead into halftime.

To start the second half, the Falcons grabbed some momentum. Junior Andre Harris split a pair off free throws and, after D&E missed a three, senior Trent Williams sent a pass over to Jones who ignited the crowd with a massive dunk as two defenders closed in.

NDC had the chance to extend the lead, but the Senators took advantage of a missed 3-pointer. Davis & Elkins' Clarens Pierre made two free throws to give his squad a 40-39 advantage and the road team would never trail again.

D&E shot 57-percent from the field in the second half and went 18-for-29 from the free throw line. By the end of the game, the Senators had totaled 30 made free throws in 45 trips to the line.

Notre Dame will play Concord University, on Wednesday, in the Murphy Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
