INDIANAPOLIS – After being named one of the top ten teams in the Atlantic Region for the first time in program history last week, Notre Dame College was placed at No. 8 in this week's NCAA Division II regional rankings. The top eight teams in the region earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. (
Rankings)
Although the Falcons have already played three games this week, the regional rankings only consider the games from last week. NDC went 3-1 in four contests and held a record of 27-19 when the rankings were selected. Against in-region opponents, the team is 25-17.
Notre Dame has 27 total wins this season, the most since 2015. The Falcons also have 16 victories against Mountain East Conference opponents, the most conference wins in the program's NCAA era. The team finished the home portion of the schedule with 12 wins, the most since 2017.
The Falcons are joined in the regional rankings by fellow MEC members West Virginia Wesleyan (No. 3), Charleston (No. 5) and Fairmont State (No. 6).
Notre Dame is currently on the road playing Walsh University. They will travel to Wheeling University for a doubleheader tomorrow, beginning at 3 p.m.
