This Week:Â Notre Dame College wrestling travels to the University of Indianapolis for three duals, on Saturday. The Falcons face McKendree University, Quincy University and Kentucky Wesleyan College. Start times will be announced later.
Records:Â Notre Dame has a dual meet record of 3-7 this season, while going 2-4 against Mountain East Conference competition. McKendree has a dual record of 9-3, Quincy is currently 6-5 and Kentucky Wesleyan holds a 2-8 mark.
Coaches Corner:Â
Jordon Tague (NDC) is in his first season at the helm of the Notre Dame College program. Jimmy Eggemeyer is in his first season at Quincy and Brandon Crawford took over the reins at Kentucky Wesleyan before the season. James Kisgen has been at McKendree since the program started in 2002 and now has over 200 wins.
Rankings:Â In the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division II top 25 poll, McKendree is receiving votes, while sitting one point outside of the top 25. Notre Dame is also receiving votes. Individually, according to the NWCA, McKendree's Christian Mejia is the No. 12 ranked wrestler at 125 lbs. Cory Peterson is now ranked No. 3 for McKendree, at 165, and Josh Jones (184) is No. 12. According to The Open Mat, Mejia ranks No. 10, Peterson is No. 4 and Jones ranks 13th. Also in The Open Mat rankings, Brody Norman ranks 18th at 149, Noah Villarreal is 10th at 157, Zeke Waltz is No. 14 at 174, Logan Kvien is No. 15 at 197 and Ian Kuehl is the No. 14 heavyweight wrestler. Cale Hoskinson is No. 11 at 157 andÂ
La'Ron Parks is 12th at 285. In The Open Mat rankings, Hoskinson is No. 12 and Parks is No. 11, in their respective weight classes.
Noting the Falcons:Â Last week, Notre Dame competed at the Mountain East Conference Championships. The Falcons walked away with fourth place, garnering 86.5 points.
Parker Moore went 2-1 at 141 lbs., which included a pin of Fairmont State's Caleb Everhart in the semifinal. He took second place and All-MEC Second Team.
Marvelous Rutledge earned second place at 197 after receiving a bye in the first round and pinning Fairmont State's Aydan Edwards in the semifinals, before losing in the final round.
Hank Carey also went 2-1, losing in the semifinal, but working back through the consolation bracket for a third-place finish, at 174, by defeating Jude Childers (Fairmont State).
La'Ron Parks also earned third place, at heavyweight. He beat Garrett Eddy (D&E) and Zach Kuneff (Wheeling) in the consolation bracket.
Thomas Schmitt defeated D&E's Jacob Sweitzer, with a pin, lost once and then took down Fairmont State's Nick Kelbaugh by major decision. He would take the third-place match by forfeit.
