La'Ron Parks has been named Wrestler of the Week for his performance over the weekend, putting together a 4-0 record. The wrestler of the week award is presented by The Health Plan. (

When Notre Dame battled Ashland University, on Friday, Parks defeated the Eagles' heavyweight, Ty Petrey with a 2-1 decision.
Two days later, the Euclid, Ohio native was back on the mat at the John Carroll Open. In the quarterfinal, he defeated Michigan State's James Campbell by decision (4-2) to start the day. Parks took down Edinboro's Max Millin, in the semis, by decision (4-0) and then beat Edinboro's Kade Sottolano with a 2-1 decision in the first-place match.
Parks is ranked No. 12 at 285 lbs., according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association, and No. 11 in The Open Mat rankings.
NDC will travel to Tiffin University on Feb. 25 for the Regional Championships, where Parks will look to punch his ticket to nationals for the second consecutive season.
