ALLIANCE, Ohio – At the first tournament of the season, on Nov. 4, Notre Dame College sent eight wrestlers to compete at Mount Union University. Six Falcons placed in the top seven, with
La'Ron Parks leading the way by taking second place at 285 lbs.
Parks, who is ranked No. 6 at heavyweight in the National Wrestling Coaches Association individual rankings, went 3-1 last Saturday. He defeated Alexander Fronczak (SUNY Brockport), with a tech fall (21-6) at the 1:36 mark. In the quarterfinal, the junior defeated Levid Rodriguez with another dominant tech fall (22-6). He then moved past Ohio Northern's Jadon Brownlee by decision (4-0) before losing in a tough 4-1 decision in sudden victory against Rayshawn Dixon (Ferrum) in the first-place match.

Marvelous Rutledge went 4-1 to capture third place. After pinning West Liberty's Anthony Gencarelli and defeating Keaton Grider, by tech fall, he lost in the semifinal in a close 2-1 decision. Rutledge bounced right back with a pin of Cole Williams (Ohio Northern) in the third-place match.
Alec Hall walked onto the mat for the first time as a Falcon. He was able to get through the first two rounds by major decision (13-4) and decision (10-5). After a defeat in the semifinals, Hall pinned Ferrum's Joseph Toner to get to the third-place match. He took fourth place after a 1-0 decision did not go his way.
Seth Horton (157) won four bouts, including a tech fall and a pin, and Joey King (184) grabbed two wins. They both placed sixth.
Matthew Kaufmann won four times, including two tech falls and a major decision, to take seventh place.
NDC will travel to Frostburg State University this weekend, to battle the Bobcats in a dual on Nov. 11. The competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
