ELKINS, W.Va. – On Sunday afternoon, Notre Dame College traveled to Davis & Elkins College for a dual meet. The Falcons won four bouts, but it came down to the heavyweight matchup and
La'Ron Parks took the victory by major decision to give Notre Dame the 19-18 win.
The Senators took the early lead via forfeit before
Ramsy Mutschler stepped up for NDC at 141 lbs. He left little doubt with an impressive 18-3 tech fall victory against Eli Nazelrodt.
Notre Dame received a win via forfeit and pulled within a point, 12-11, but the Falcons could not break through and take the lead. Davis & Elkins' Jacob Sweitzer earned his squad six more points with a pin at 184.
NDC's
Marvelous Rutledge and
La'Ron Parks needed to step up and they did. At 197, Rutledge defeated Michael Schneider with an 18-6 major decision. Parks then dominated Garrett Eddy at 285 and also won by major decision (11-1). The Falcons needed all eight of those points to sneak past D&E by one.
Notre Dame now heads to Tiffin University, on Jan. 14, for the Regional Duals.
