This Week:Â Notre Dame College wrestling faced the best of the Mountain East Conference last weekend at the MEC Championships. On Feb. 5, they will be competing against some of the top teams in the country at the Greyhound Duals, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. At 2 p.m., the Falcons are scheduled to battle No. 9 University of Findlay. At 4 p.m., they will take on No. 5 McKendree University and to wrap up the day, at 6 p.m., NDC will compete against Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Records: Notre Dame will head to Indianapolis with a dual record of 1-3. Findlay is 2-5 this season in duals, while McKendree is 10-1. Kentucky Wesleyan has a 1-12 record in 2021-22.
Rankings: McKendree enters the weekend ranked No. 5 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association top 25 poll. They have 54 total points in the poll with four individuals ranked in their weight classes. Findlay is still in the top 10, sitting at No. 9 with 36 points and two individuals ranked.

Coaches Corner: Sonny Marchette is the head coach of the Notre Dame wrestling program in his third season. Shawn Nelson is now in his 25th season as the head coach of the Roughnecks at Findlay. James Kisgen has been the head coach at McKendree for 19 years and Rob McCabe has been the head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan for three seasons.

Series History:Â NDC has an all-time record of 3-0 against Findlay since their first meeting in the 2010-11 season. NDC is also 3-0 against McKendree since the 2013-14 campaign. They have never faced Kentucky Wesleyan.

Noting the Falcons:Â Notre Dame placed third at the MEC Championships last Saturday. They had wrestlers competing in nine of the 10 weight classes and each one of them placed in the top five.
Sandro Ramirez (157) and
Logan Hall (184) took first place and All-MEC First Team honors. Ramirez also brought home Most Outstanding Wrestler, becoming the second Falcon in three years to earn the award.
La'Ron Parks took second at heavyweight,
Dylan Burnoski (141),
Matthew Kaufmann (149),
Cale Hoskinson (165) and
Hank Carey (174) all took third place.
Noting the Roughnecks: Findlay has just two wins this season in dual competition, but one of them came against No. 4 West Liberty. The Roughnecks snuck by with a 19-18 win in December. UF has also faced top teams, as they fell to No. 1 Central Oklahoma and No. 19 Mercyhurst at the National Duals. At the GMAC Tournament, they had to battle No. 12 Ashland. This season, Branson Proudlock is ranked No. 2 in the country at 141 and James Wimer is the top wrestler at 157.

Noting the Bearcats: McKendree has put together an impressive season. Their only loss of the year came against Newberry in the NWCA National Duals. The Bearcats would finish fifth at the National Duals, defeating Ashland and Mercyhurst, teams that are now ranked 12 and 19, respectively. The Bearcats also beat No. 15 Colorado Mesa in the fifth place matchup. They enter the weekend on a nine-match win streak, which includes a win against No. 7 UIndy. Christian Mejia is the No. 2 wrestler at 125 lbs. in Division II, Cory Peterson is No. 4 at 165, Dan Filipek sits at No. 3 in the 184 weight class and Ian Kuehl is No. 3 in the heavyweight division.

Noting the Panthers: Kentucky Wesleyan has struggled this season, winning just once in dual competition. On Jan. 26, they took down Lincoln Memorial, 17-14. The Panthers went 0-4 at the GMAC Duals, putting up just 15 points in four matchups.
