BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Matthew Kaufmann put together an impressive day on Sunday afternoon at the Storm Open, earning him Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Week, presented by The Health Plan. The Falcons' grappler becomes the first NDC wrestler to earn Player of the Week honors this season.
 
After receiving a bye in the first round, he defeated Clarion's Shermuhammad Sadriddinov with a 5-1 decision. In the semifinal, he easily moved past unattached LaRon Ruffin by major decision (12-2). And in the first-place matchup, Kaufmann defeated Klay Reeves, of No. 3 Ohio State, with a 3-0 decision.
 
Notre Dame will compete inside the Murphy Gymnasium on Dec. 8, for the Blue vs. White Intersquad Dual. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
