West Liberty and Ursuline up next for women's basketball

This Week: The Notre Dame College women's basketball team will travel to West Liberty University on Tuesday Nov. 22 at 5:30 p.m. Next, the Falcons will head to Ursuline College for a non-conference bout on Saturday Nov. 26 at 5 p.m.
 
Records: NDC begins the week at 1-3, including starting Mountain East Conference play 1-0. WLU sits at 2-2 (1-0 MEC), while Ursuline is also 2-2.
 
Coaches Corner: Imani Gordon is in her second season as the head coach of Notre Dame College, holding a career record of 16-17. Kyle Coopers begins his sixth season with West Liberty University. Shannon Sword has a 109-119 record in her ninth season at the helm of Ursuline College.
 
Rankings: None of these teams are ranked according Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Poll.
 
Series History: The Falcons maintain an 11-9 all-time record when facing West Liberty, dating back to their first meeting in 2013-14, and including the two sides split last season. NDC is 4-2 all-time when playing Ursuline College, dating back to their first meeting in 2014-15 and including their most recent contest in 2019-20 when the Falcons won 78-58 in South Euclid, Ohio.
 
Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame College went 1-1, beginning with a 76-63 defeat in the home opener to Slippery Rock. The Falcons bounced back on Saturday in the MEC opener with a 55-51 victory over Wheeling. Redshirt sophomore Alana Ellis paced the NDC offense in both games with 15 and 22 points, respectively.
 
On the year, the Falcons have been led by Ellis' 17.8 points per game. The Twinsburg, Ohio native, currently leads Notre Dame in field goals made (28), field goals attempted (77), three-point field goals made (8) and three-point field goals attempted (28).
 
Sophomore Lilee Carlson checks in next at 9.8 ppg, as she leads NDC in free throws made (10) and free throws attempted (15).
 
Senior Marina Adachi is the three-point threat for NDC, shooting at a 46.2% clip (6-13).
 
On the glass, freshman Noel Weathers grabs a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game. Junior Lizzie Imrie is next with 4.0 rpg, while leading the team with eight assists on the year.
 
As a team, Notre Dame averages 62.0 ppg on 38.3% from the field, 31.3% from three and 66.3% from the free throw line. The Falcons claim 33.8 rpg, 10.3 assists per game, 11.5 steals per game and 3.5 blocks per game.
 
Noting the Hilltoppers: Last week, West Liberty split their pair of matches, beginning with a 79-68 defeat on Wednesday evening to Ohio Dominican. On Saturday, the Hilltoppers began the conference season perfect with an 82-73 victory at Alderson Broaddus. Karly McCutcheon paced the WLU offense on both occasions with 18 and 24 points, respectively.
 
West Liberty has been led by the aforementioned McCutcheon who flashes a team-high 22.0 ppg. McCutcheon also leads the Hilltoppers in assists (17), field goals attempted (51), three-point field goals made (13), three-point field goals attempted (27) and three-point percentage (.481).
 
McCutcheon is joined by Arriana Manzay who boasts 20.3 ppg, along with a team-high 8.5 rpg. She also leads the squad in field goals made (31), field goal percentage (.756), free throws made (19), free throws attempted (23) and free throw percentage (.826)
 
As a unit, West Liberty scores 81.3 ppg, on 46.5% shooting from the field, 32.7% shooting from deep and 73.3% shooting from the free throw line. The Hilltoppers add 38.3 rpg, 17.3 apg, 5.8 steals per game and 2.5 blocks per game.
 
Noting the Arrows: Last week, Ursuline split their pair of matchups at home. On Thursday, the Arrows downed Lake Superior State, 65-48, before falling to Slippery Rock on Saturday, 66-62. Alyssa Evans paced the Arrows offense on the week with 18 and 17 points scored, respectively.
 
Evans carries the UC offense as the only double-digit scorer at 18.0 ppg. She leads the team in assists (12), field goals made (23), field goals attempted (61), three-point field goals made (6), three-point field goals attempted (25), free throws made (20) and free throws attempted (24).
 
On the boards, Madison Cloonan secures 10.0 rpg, as she is third on the team in scoring at 8.5 ppg. Michaela Cloonan tallies 9.0 ppg and a team-high 17 steals on the year.
 
As a whole, Ursuline scores 61.0 ppg, on 35.3% shooting from the field, 21.8% shooting from three and 77.8% shooting from the charity stripe. The Arrows add 34.5 rpg, 10.0 apg, 10.3 spg and 1.3 bpg.
