This week: The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will travel to the University of Mount Union on Friday Jan. 28 at 5:00 p.m. to face the Division III Purple Raiders in a dual meet. On Saturday, NDC will stay on the road and travel to Frostburg State University for a GMAC-MEC dual meet scheduled for Jan. 29 at 1:00 p.m. This weekend marks the final week of the regular season, as the Falcons will travel to the GMAC/MEC Championships on Feb. 16-19.Â

Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by head coach
Stephanie Gyurke who is in her fifth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Gyurke has two MEC Championship trophies under her belt, by coaching the men's side to back-to-back conference crowns in 2020 and 2021. Eric Mojock is in his 15
th season at the helm of the Mount Union swimming and diving program. Andrew Foltz is in his first season as head coach of the Frostburg State swimming and diving team.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame jumps back into the water after their back-to-back dual meets last weekend against Malone, which was the Falcons first time in the pool since Dec. 3. On the weekend, NDC displayed a multitude of first place finishes and dominated Malone on both sides 197.5-63.5 (men) and 185-61 (women) during the scored meet on Friday. In fact, the Falcons won 26 of the 28 events held on Friday and 12 of the 14 events that took place on Saturday to ensure a victory for Notre Dame.

On the season, both NDC swim teams are 3-2 in dual meets.

Noting the Purple Raiders: Mount Union is back in the pool after their dual meet last weekend Jan. 22, against Wilmington College. The Purple Raiders claimed victories on both the men's and women's side, 123-71 and 130.5-57.5 respectively.

In addition, Mount Union has played some similar competition as Notre Dame this season. On Nov. 6 Mount Union fell to John Carroll 206-96 on the men's side and 182-115 on the women's side. Moreover, the Purple Raiders squared off against the Malone Pioneers at the beginning of the season on Oct. 22. The UMU men's team won 128-93, and the women's team won 137-80.

On the season, the UMU men's team is 6-2 in dual meets, while the women's team is 3-5.

Noting the Bobcats: Frostburg State is most recently coming off a tri-meet victory against Alderson Broaddus and Salem on Jan. 22. The FSU men's team beat AB 186-17, while the women's team won 181-10. Furthermore, the Bobcats men's team beat Salem 132-112 and the women's team won 142.5-100.5.

On the season, the Frostburg State men's team is 6-1 in dual meets, while the FSU women's team is 8-1. Â In conference play, the Bobcats have now taken down Wheeling, Davis & Elkins, West Virginia Wesleyan and Alderson Broaddus, twice.
