This week: The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will host Malone University in a GMAC-MEC dual meet on Friday Jan. 21 at 5:00 p.m. inside Mellen Pool. The NDC seniors will be recognized prior to the meet as a part of Senior Night. The Falcons will then travel down to Canton for a rematch with Malone on Saturday Jan. 22 at 1:00 p.m.

Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by head coach
Stephanie Gyurke who is in her fifth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Gyurke has two MEC Championship trophies under her belt, by coaching the men's side to back-to-back conference crowns in 2020 and 2021. Cassandra Wendall is the head coach of the Malone swimming and diving program in her first season.

Rankings: Neither school is ranked in the Division II College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Poll.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame will enter the water for the first time since Dec. 3 when the Falcons made the short drive over to John Carroll University. JCU got the best of NDC, both on the men's (85-177) and women's side (104-158) that evening. Despite the defeat, individually the Falcons showed flashes with event wins from

Emily Thomas (50 and 100 Back),
Jaybreona Foster (50 and 100 Breast),

Prior to the dual meet with Blue Streaks, the Falcons traveled to the Malone Invite for a record-breaking weekend where both the men's and women's teams placed first. During the Invite, Notre Dame set new program records in the men's 200 medley relay and the men's 100 and 200 backstrokes. As for the team, the NDC men scored 1,133 points compared to Davis & Elkins' 960.5, Malone's 599.5 and West Virginia Wesleyan's 321. On the women's side, NDC scored 922, Davis & Elkins posted 802, WVWC scored 645, while Malone finished with 532.

On the season, both NDC swim teams are 2-2 in dual meets.

Noting the Pioneers: Malone is back in the pool after their tri-meet on Jan. 15 with Oberlin College and Ohio Wesleyan University. This tri-meet marked the first time in the water for the Pioneers since the Malone Invite back on Nov. 21. On this afternoon, the men's side fell 113-73 to OWU, while dropping 130-68 to Oberlin. The Pioneer women also lost both, 143-82 against OWU and 173-52 to Oberlin.Â
