This Week:Â Notre Dame College wrestling will host a dual for the first time since Feb. 12, 2020 when Wheeling University comes to South Euclid on Jan. 13. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The Falcons will travel to Alliance, Ohio for the Mount Union Open, on Jan. 16.
Spectator Reminder: No spectators will be allowed to enter Murphy Gymnasium on Thursday.

Records:Â Notre Dame has only wrestled in one dual meet so far this season and they enter the week with an 0-1 record.

Coaches Corner: Sonny Marchette is the head coach of the Notre Dame wrestling program in his third season. Daniel Ownbey is in his second season at the helm of the Wheeling program.

Series History:Â NDC is 2-0 against Wheeling, since the two programs first met in the 2015-16 season. The two teams have not wrestled in a dual against each other since the NWCA National Duals in 2019. Notre Dame won that matchup 21-9.

Noting the Falcons:Â Notre Dame has not wrestled since Dec. 5 at the Storm Open. At that event, NDC had their heavyweights going head-to-head for first place.
Michael Viramontes was able to pin teammate
La'Ron Parks (unattached) for the win at 285 lbs. Parks took second place at 285 and
Cale Hoskinson grabbed second in the 165 lbs. bracket after winning his first two bouts by decision.
Matthew Kaufmann finished in sixth place but did pick up wins over Michigan State's Brock Holek and Lake Erie's Jaycob Sharp.
Logan Hall (184) and
Thomas Schmitt (174) both lost once and wrestled their way back to take first place in the consolation brackets.

Noting the Cardinals:Â Wheeling has not wrestled since attending the Midwest Classic on Dec. 18-19. Josh Sharron, Clarouly Meca and Brennon Reid all picked up a victory at that open. The Cardinals have not wrestled in a dual yet this season.
