Swimming & Diving to make the short trip over to John Carroll University on Friday evening

This week: The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will make the short trip to University Heights to face Division III John Carroll University in a dual meet on Friday Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Johnson Natatorium

Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by Head Coach Stephanie Gyurke who is in her fifth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Gyurke has two MEC Championship trophies under her belt, by coaching the men's side to back-to-back conference crowns in 2020 and 2021. Tanner Barton is at the helm of the John Carroll University swimming and diving team in his second season, after leading both the JCU men's and women's teams to conference championships during his first season as head coach.

Rankings: The John Carroll men's team is receiving votes to be ranked in the CSCAA Division III Poll. NDC is currently unranked in the CSCAA Division II Poll.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame is most recently coming off a first-place finish at the Malone Invite for both the men's (1,133 points) and women's (922 points) teams back on Nov. 20-21. NDC bested Davis & Elkins, West Virginia Wesleyan and Malone during the weekend.

On the season, Notre Dame posts dual meet wins over Salem and Davis & Elkins, but also a loss to the College of Wooster. Friday's meet marks the seventh swim meet of the season for Notre Dame and is the last time the Falcons will be in the water until the new year and a dual meet against Fairmont State on Jan. 15.

Fresh off Mountain East Conference Swimmer of the Week honors, Courtney Ledbetter and Abram Hagedorn are ready to hit the water again. Ledbetter concluded the Malone Invite by winning five of her seven events to help ensure a victory for NDC. Hagedorn had an equally as impressive Malone Invite by winning four of his seven events, including record breaking performances in the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 200-medley relay.

Noting the Blue Streaks: John Carroll most recently finished in fifth place out of six teams at the Kenyon Invitational which featured competition from the top Division III program in Kenyon College, as well as West Chester, Carnegie Mellon, Hope and St. Norbet College. Both of the Blue Streaks men's and women's teams post a 1-1 dual meet record with a season opening loss to Ohio Northern (Men: 139-157, Women: 137-156) and a trouncing of Mount Union (Men: 206-90, Women: 182-115) a week later. Friday will mark the fourth swim meet and first home meet of the season for John Carroll.
