This week: The Notre Dame College wrestling team travels to Ohio State University on Tuesday Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. for a dual meet against the Division I Buckeyes.

Records: Notre Dame has not wrestled in a dual meet, as the Falcons have competed in the three open tournaments this season. OSU is currently 2-0 in dual meets and have also competed in one open tournament.

Coaches Corner: Sonny Marchette is the head coach of the Notre Dame wrestling program in his third season. Tom Ryan is in his 16
th season with the Ohio State wrestling program and has a career dual record of 176-60.

Rankings: Ohio State is ranked #8 in the NWCA Coaches Poll for Division I. NDC is not ranked in the NWCA Coaches Poll for Division II.

Series History: NDC is 0-2 all-time against OSU, dating back to their first meeting in 2008-09. Tuesday will mark the first dual meet between the two schools since their most recent meeting in 2013-14.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame is fresh off their trip to the Findlay Open last week where
Darese Sparkman took third place at 149 lbs. and
La'Ron Parks took fifth place at 285. Sparkman went 5-1 on during the open, with a victory (5-3) in the third-place match over Mitchel Christensen of Division I Central Michigan. Parks put together a solid outing by going 6-2 during the open. His performance was highlighted by a win by major decision (12-4) over Dzhabrail Khurshidov of Division I Michigan.

Prior to the Findlay Open, Notre Dame has also competed at the Southeast Open and Tiffin Open. Â Moreover, NDC had eight individuals place in the top-eight in Tiffin, with
Matthew Kaufmann leading the way by placing second at 141 lbs. It is worth noting that Ohio State University was also a participant at the Tiffin Open.

Noting the Buckeyes: Ohio State is coming off their most recent victory over #11 Virginia Tech on Nov. 19 in Blacksburg, 17-13. OSU has also bested #14 North Carolina (23-12) in Columbus during the Buckeyes first dual meet of the season on Nov. 7.

The Buckeyes boast five players with 5-0 records this season, with Malik Heinselman (125), Sammy Sasso (149), Carson Kharchla (165), Ethan Smith (174) and Tate Orndorff (285). Dylan D'Emilio (141) leads this OSU team in total wins, with an 8-1 record.
