Tournament Update: Notre Dame College women's basketball has advanced to the MEC Semifinals as the No. 2 seed. They will play the No. 3 seed University of Charleston on March 7, at 2:15 p.m.
Looking Ahead: If the Falcons win, they will advance to the MEC Finals to play the winner of No. 1 seed Glenville State College versus No. 4 seed Concord University. The championship game will take place on March 8 at 2 p.m.
Records: Notre Dame has a record of 25-4 and the Falcons put together a conference record of 18-4 in the regular season. Charleston comes into the game with a record of 23-6, overall, and a 17-5 MEC record.
Coaches Corner: Lauren Macer is in her third season as head coach of Notre Dame with a record of 63-27 (47-19 MEC). Becky Burke is in her second campaign at the helm of UC. She has a record of 48-13 (35-9 MEC)
Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked in the WBCA poll. In the Atlantic Region Rankings, Notre Dame is currently fifth and Charleston is ranked ninth. The top-8 teams from the region make the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Series History: NDC swept their season series with Charleston and now hold a record of 10-6 against the Golden Eagles since the MEC started in the 2013-14 season.
Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame won their Quarterfinal matchup against Wheeling by a score of 75-61.

Seina Adachi (23) combined for 51 points. Turning the page to the Semifinals, NDC swept Charleston in the regular season, and they were the only MEC team to do so. In their two matchups this season, there were many similarities. The Falcons outscored UC 53-24, over the two first quarters, which included a 22-8 rout in the first ten minutes in South Euclid. Charleston then outscored NDC in the second and third quarters of both regular season games, before Notre Dame closed out the victories by winning both fourth quarters. NDC also outrebounded Charleston in both matchups and combined for 71 rebounds to Charleston's 56.
Seina Adachi averaged 34 points over the two games. She scored a career-high in their first matchup, scoring 39 points on 11-of-19 shooting, 6-of-8 from three and 11-of-11 at the free throw line. She also had nine rebounds. Her 39 points tied the program record. NDC won by just three points, 79-76, in that game. In the second matchup, Adachi had 29 points, making 10 shots, and totaling six assists and six steals. In that second game, Marone added 18 points and Notre Dame won, 74-67.

Noting the Golden Eagles: Charleston got past Fairmont State in the Quarterfinals by a score of 86-53. After leading by just three points through the first quarter, 13-10, UC outscored FSU 31-13 in the second quarter. Anna Hayton scored 25 points, on 11-for-13 shooting, nine rebounds and three blocks. Dakota Reeves, who leads the conference in three-point percentage, made six three pointers and totaled 20 points. Brooklyn Pannell added 10 points. The team shot 55-percent. In their matchups with Notre Dame, UC looked to Pannell for their offense, as she averaged 22.5 points, making eight shots in both games. A different player stepped up to help her over the two games. In the first matchup, Hayton had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Reeves added 15. In the second game, Erykah Russell had 15 points and 10 rebounds. This season, UC is first in the MEC in team defense, allowing just 63.8 points per game and second in field goal percentage defense (39.6-percent). They also have a strong offense, shooting 47.4-percent, which ranks third in the MEC and they first in three-point percentage, shooting 37.9-percent.
