Lacrosse plays two non-conference games this week

Upcoming Games: Notre Dame College women's lacrosse will turn around quickly, after returning from Colorado, to play on the road against Walsh University on March 14 at 5 p.m. and Davis & Elkins College on March 17, at 1 p.m.

Records: Notre Dame is currently 2-1, while Walsh and D&E are both 3-1.

Coaches Corner: Pam Jenkins is now in her third season as the head coach at NDC with an overall record of 7-22. Matt Shields is in his first season as head coach of Walsh. For Davis & Elkins, Tommy Kelly is in his second season as head coach of the Senators and has a record of 6-14.

Rankings: None of these teams are ranked in the IWLCA Coaches Poll.

Series History: Notre Dame has a record of 2-3 against Walsh since they first played in 2013, including a loss last year. The Falcons have never played Davis & Elkins.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame played two games in Colorado, going 1-1. They won 19-4 over Adams State and then lost their first game of the season against Colorado State-Pueblo by a score of 18-5. Goalie McKenzie Shean was awarded MEC Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Over the past two games, she has saved 10 shots. Ellejanna Cicione came in to play goalie for the majority of the CSU-Pueblo game, staying on the field for 35 minutes and grabbing three saves. Danyelle Hardy helped the Falcons offensively over the past two games, scoring seven total goals. Victoria Eiland had seven draw controls. Leslie Diaz leads the team with 10 goals on the year, while Selena Carter and Danyelle Hardy each have nine goals. Diaz, Katie Wendell and Bridie Schmalz all have three assists. Victoria Eiland has 11 draw controls on the year. On defense, Wendell leads the team with five caused turnovers and McKenzie Shean has a save percentage of 42-percent and she has totaled 20 saves.

Noting the Cavaliers: After starting the season 3-0, Walsh's only loss came at the hands of Lincoln Memorial, 14-11 on March 5. In their lone loss, WU scored all 11 goals on zero assists. It was the first game that they did not have, at least, five assists. In the game, Sam Paulson led the team with three goals and Luisa Landaverde had four caused turnovers and four groundballs. A bright spot for the Cavaliers, is that they outscored Lincoln Memorial 7-5 in the second half. On the season, Hannah McFeeters leads the team with 12 goals, Skylar Crandell and Becky Parker are second with six. Landaverde leads Walsh with 14 groundballs and seven caused turnovers. Ellen Lawrence has five assists on the season. Mikaela Faus has started all four games in goal and has a save percentage of 47-percent, but Rebecca Tomaszewski has come into three games as the goalie, off the bench.
 
Noting the Senators: Just like Walsh, Davis & Elkins' only loss of the season came at the hands of Lincoln Memorial, at the beginning of the season. They went 3-0 in three games in North Carolina. Last week, they defeated Brevard, 16-8, and Montreat College, 21-3. Angelina Horan had 10 goals, two assists over the two games, as well as 15 draw controls. Horan has 17 goals on the season and Ryann Sumner has scored 14 goals. Sumner also has caused eight turnovers while goalie Ebele De La Bay Coffie has 33 saves, on the season. The team has increased their caused turnovers each game (5, 11, 12, 13).
 
Dominant W's: In victories so far this season, NDC and D&E have won by an average margin of 11 points while Walsh has won by an average of 10.3 points.
