PAINESVILLE, Ohio – At the Lake Erie Storm Open, held at Riverside High School, Notre Dame College had seven wrestlers place, with
Kelan McKenna taking first place at 141 lbs., defeating five wrestlers from NCAA Division I schools.
McKenna's impressive Sunday began with a pin of Mike Santillo, from Cleveland State. He advanced to the semifinals by getting past Dylan D'Emilio (Ohio State) by decision and Patrick Gould (Kent State) by major decision. The junior, who is ranked fourth in Division II at 141, took down JD Stickley, of Ohio State, with a tight 10-8 decision. In the First Place Match, McKenna defeated Cleveland State's Peyton Blasko by major decision.

Hunter Bray also had a very nice day at 133 lbs., defeating Ohio State's Conor McCrone in the quarterfinal after receiving a bye. Dylan Koontz defeated the Falcons' grappler in the tie-breaker format, but Bray bounced back with a 9-3 victory over Eric Bartos in the Third Place Match.
At 165 lbs.,
Jack Rogan won his first two matchups over Jason Breeden (Mercyhurst) and Albert Taylor (Gannon), but ran into some tough competition in the semifinals. Rogan would fall to Ohio State wrestlers in back-to-back matches, taking fourth place.
Logan Hall wrestled unattached at 184 lbs. After starting the day 1-1, Hall defeated Neamiah Diggs (Edinboro) and No. 8 ranked Gino Sita (Alderson Broaddus) to clear a path for fifth place. In the Fifth Place Match, he defeated Ryan Neu (Kent State) with a close 5-3 decision.
Emilio Fowler wrestled at 174 lbs., and grabbed sixth place after losing his first matchup of the day. He received a bye in the consolation bracket and then went 3-1 the rest of the day.
Jordon Tague also took sixth place at 157, in a similar circumstance. He lost his first matchup, received a bye and then won the next four matchups.
Anthony Marra won two matches in the 174 lbs. weight bracket and took eighth place.
Notre Dame has the next two weeks off before they travel to Cleveland State University, for the Cleveland State Open, on December 14.
