ASHLAND, Ohio – In their first dual meet following the NWCA National Duals, No. 3 Notre Dame College looked strong, even with multiple starters injured, as they defeated No. 17 Ashland University, 30-9, on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons had six points on the scoreboard quickly, as Ashland forfeit the 125 lbs. match.
Hunter Bray then took down Luke Wymer by decision (3-1) before
David Bavery (141 lbs.) and
Taylor Misuna (149) won their matches by major decision, giving NDC four points, each. Notre Dame led 17-0.
After
Zach Kelly got past Cody Woods by decision at 157,
Jashon Hubbard, ranked tenth in the nation, had a great battle with No. 5 Bret Romanzak. Romanzak snuck by with a 4-2 decision in overtime.
Cornell Beachem Jr. defeated Christian Price by major decision at 174 and
Logan Hall pinned Peter Abraham at 197, which gave NDC a 30-6 advantage.
In the final matchup,
Kameron Teacher lost to No. 9 Tristen Weirich by decision.
Notre Dame will take on West Liberty University on January 18 at 6 p.m.
