JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – No. 2 Notre Dame College wrestling won the Division II East Super Regional by tallying 133.5 points over Friday and Saturday. They also qualified seven wrestlers to advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament, along with two alternate qualifiers.
NDC beat the second place finisher, University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, by 22 points. The Falcons have won the Super Regional in back-to-back seasons and five out of the last six years.
"We wrestled well, especially on Saturday," head coach
Frank Romano said. "We had seven byes to start the day on Friday, which hurt because we didn't get bonus points for wrestling, but we got past that."
The wrestlers who finished in the top four in their weight bracket qualify to advance to the National Tournament.
