Women's basketball plays three games in six days

This Week: Notre Dame College will host Malone on Wednesday, November 14, at 6 p.m. before traveling to Concord on Saturday, November 17, at 2 p.m.

Next Week: The Falcons head to UVa-Wise to play Monday, November 19, at 5:30 p.m.

Records: The Falcons started the season out 2-0 at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament with wins over Millersville and West Chester. Malone has yet to win this season. After losing to Wisconsin Parkside and Lake Superior State, the Pioneers are 0-2. Concord is 2-1 and on a two-game win streak after beating Bluefield State on Tuesday. UVa-Wise also attended the Carol Eckman Tournament, losing to West Chester and defeating Millersville. The Cavaliers are 1-1 heading into this week and will play King University and Urbana before facing NDC.

Coaches Corner: Lauren Macer is in her second season as the head coach of the NDC women's basketball program. She holds a record of 25-9, 17-5 MEC. Selana Reale is in her debut season at Malone after being named the program's head coach in late March of this year. Kenny Osborne is in his 17th year with Concord and 18th overall as a head coach. Osborne has amassed a record of 233-280 (33-77 MEC) at Concord and 247-293 overall. Jamie Cluesman is also making her debut as a head coach this season at UVa-Wise. She is very familiar with the MEC as a player at Concord and a four-year assistant at Shepherd. She is 1-1 so far this season.

Rankings: None of these teams were ranked in the November 1 Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll.

Series History: This will be the first time Notre Dame has played Malone since joining the NCAA Division II ranks prior to the 2012-13 season. The Falcons are 10-0 against Concord and 6-5 against UVa-Wise over that span.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame started its season out 2-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 season. A big part of the Falcons early success was Seina Adachi, who scored 45 points and recorded eight steals in the two contests and was named MEC Player of the Week for her efforts. NDC has been balanced this year with player like Kyleigh Ramlow who has made five of her six field goals from beyond the arc, Jessie Stout and Tamia Ridley who combined for 20 makes, all for two points, and Katie Karalic who scored 18 points over the two games, but led the team in assists (13) and steals (four).

Noting the Pioneers: Malone's Robin Campbell is the team's most utilized weapon so far this season. Campbell has taken over 28 percent of the team's field goal attempts and scored over 40 percent of the team's points in two games this year. Her 46 points dwarfs the other Pioneers with no one else on the team scoring more than 16 points. In their first two games, the Pioneers have outscored their opponents 42-36 in the first quarter, but have been outscored in all other quarters by at least four points.

Noting the Mountain Lions: Concord has made 41.9 percent of its attempts this season while keeping opponents to just 37.8 percent shooting. But the Mountain Lions have made five fewer field goals this season compared to their opponents due to the opposing players being able to get off 27 more attempts. Concord has been able to take advantage on misses, averaging 8.5 more rebounds per game than the teams they are playing, but that mark only slightly makes up for the 7.5 more turnovers per game they average.

Noting the Cavaliers: UVa-Wise has only played two games this season, but in both of those contests, the Cavaliers sent their opponents to the free throw line at least 23 times. Comparatively, Notre Dame has only been to the free throw line a total of 39 times this season, never reaching the mark of 23. Wise's opponents have yet to make more than 70 percent of their attempts from the charity stripe, however. In their loss this year, the Cavs only made four of their 18 three-pointers (.222), but in their win, the team made 10 of 24 (.417).
