SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College split their double-header with Lake Erie College, on Tuesday afternoon, winning game one, 3-2 in walk-off fashion, and losing game two, 4-2 on Normandy Field.
The Falcons (19-22) had their three game winning streak snapped with their loss in game two. They are 4-3 in their last seven games. The Storm (12-20) is now 2-4 in their last six games. They snapped a three game losing streak with the win in game two.
Game 1
Notre Dame fell behind early as LEC got a lead-off ground-rule double by Elizabeth Karako to start the second inning. She would score the first run of the game as Lindsey Valvoda hit a two out RBI single to left field.
The Storm would put their second run on the board in the top of the third inning. This time, Elizabeth Karako hit an RBI single to left field, scoring Kaitlyn Peacock.
NDC started their comeback in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Nicole Luciano started the inning with a single. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Maria Vanadia. Luciano moved to third on a groundout and then scored the first run of the game for the Falcons as
Amy Hoover hit an infield single. The Falcons would leave bases loaded in the inning.
With runners on first and second base in the bottom of the fifth inning,
Erin Calhoun singled to center field, scoring
Sarah Depp, tying the game at 2 runs.
Falcons' starting pitcher,
Taylor Olson, put Lake Erie down in order in the sixth and seventh inning. The Falcons' offense went to work in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with three singles. Calhoun stepped up to the plate with a chance to win the game and she was walked by the Storm pitcher, Kaylie Lewis.
Emily Kusmits came in to score the winning run.
For Notre Dame, Olson (12-11) won the game as she went seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and struck out seven batters. The first seven batters in the Falcons' order had at least one hit. Depp and Calhoun both had two hits.
Allyson Deemer started in the pitcher's circle for Lake Erie and gave up only one run in four innings of work. Lewis (2-3) picked up the loss, going just 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Elizabeth Karako and Kaitlyn Peacock both had two hits.
Game 2
Lake Erie scored first in game two, as well. Hannah Shevenell hit a two-out single with runners on first and second base, allowing Allyson Hajnosz to score.
In the top of the third inning, Kaitlyn Peacock singled to start the inning, then, Savannah Karako homered. After

Rachelle Miller, Elizabeth Karako hit a solo home run to put the Storm up 4-0.
The Falcons could not score until the sixth inning, when
Halli Swiger hit an RBI single to center field, allowing
Amy Hoover to touch home plate.
Emily Kusmits then hit a home run to start the bottom of the seventh inning, cutting the deficit to two runs. However, the Falcons could not put another run on the board.
Miller (1-5) was the starting pitcher for Notre Dame and was given the loss. She gave up three runs on five hits. Kusmits went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer, at the plate.
Shelby Stephens and Swiger both had two hits.
For the Storm, Shevenell (4-6) was the winning pitcher after she went seven innings, allowing just two runs. Kaitlyn Peacock and Hajnosz had two hits, while Savannah Karako had three hits and two RBI.
The Falcons will now play Concord University, in Athens, W.Va., on April 20. The first game of the double-header is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
