ATHENS, W.V. – The Notre Dame Falcons shot 64-percent during a huge offensive fourth quarter to secure a conference win over the Concord Mountain Lions, 85-69, on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Falcons (3-9, 2-5 MEC) end a six game losing streak and stop a two game road losing streak. Concord (2-9, 1-6 MEC) has now lost eight of their last nine games.

Notre Dame got off to a hot start, scoring the first eight points in the game, including six points by Kelsey Miller during that run. Alexis Lowery had the first points of the game for Concord when she hit a three-pointer with 6:13 remaining in the first quarter.

The Falcons quickly responded and Ciara Reed knocked down a three with 5:45 to go in the first quarter, putting NDC back up by eight, 11-3. The Mountain Lions closed the quarter on a 11-7 run to reduce the Falcons lead to four points, 18-14.

In the second quarter, Notre Dame got a few quick points on the board. Seina Adachi had six combined points and Reed hit another three in the midst of an 8-4 run to put the Falcons up, 26-18, with 6:23 to go in the first half.

Later in the quarter, Jessie Stout scored four straight points with a jumper and a layup, putting NDC up by ten points, 33-23, their largest lead of the first half.

The Mountain Lions finished the second quarter strong, as they did in the first. After the three-minute mark, Notre Dame was held to two points, while Concord was able to piece together a 7-2 run.

The Falcons held a 35-30 advantage at the halftime break.

Both teams shot 41-percent from the field in the first half. For Notre Dame, 16 of the team's 35 first half points came from the bench.

In the second half, Concord University came out firing on all cylinders. Lindsey Overbey and Lowery both hit three pointers to begin the third quarter, which put the Mountain Lions up, 36-35. Concord retook the lead with 8:24 to go in the third quarter as Alley Odell got a layup to fall through the hoop.

Notre Dame never looked back after Kim Cook layup gave the Falcons a 39-38 lead. Including this layup, the Falcons outscored Concord, 25-15 for the rest of the third quarter. Miller added 12 points for NDC over that run.

The Falcons continued to pull away in the fourth quarter. Not only did they outscore Concord, 23-16 in the fourth quarter, but Notre Dame put together a 5-0 run to start the quarter and rattled off eight straight points later in the quarter. The defense was dominant in the fourth, as well, and the Mountain Lions were held scoreless for nearly four minutes over Notre Dame's 8-0 run.

Four players scored in double-digits for the Falcons. Reed scored 16 points, Adachi added 10 points and seven assists, Miller dropped 23 points and grabbed six rebounds and Cook had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. The Falcons shot 29-for-60 (48-percent) from the field as a team. They also out-rebounded Concord by 10, 40-30.

For the Mountain Lions, Lowery scored 28 points while shooting six-for-six from three point land. Overbey dropped 11 points. Although Concord shot a red-hot 53-percent from behind the three point line, they were held to just 43-percent from the field as a team.

Notre Dame will travel to Wise, Virginia on Tuesday, Jan. 10, to battle the University of Virginia-Wise Cavaliers. Tipoff time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
