Game One
Notre Dame rallied late in the first contest of the day, but they fell into an early, 2-0 hole in the second inning, and they were down 6-0 at one point, which was too deep of a hole to dig out of.
Felician was the first team to score, getting a pair of runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run homer from Kayla Weber. They then scored four times on five hits in the fifth inning to pull away. Zeaenna Brackett had the big hit of the inning, with a three-run homer, before Ashley Owens drove in the next run on a RBI single to center.
The Falcons scored all of their runs in the top of the seventh.
Mackenzie Wallace reached in a fielder's choice, which allowed
Nicole Paolucci to score, before
Maria Vanadia belted a two-run single to center to score Wallace and
Brittany Reising.
Notre Dame had the tying run at the plate when the game ended, but Felician held on for the victory.
Ashley Pokraka (2-6) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits while fanning two over five innings of work.
Amy Hoover, Wallace and
Kayla Sidorski led the Falcons offensively, chipping in with two hits each.
Game Two
While Pokraka took the loss in game one, she completely shut down one the best toughest teams on the NDC schedule in the second game of the day. She came on in relief, and allowed just a hit over 6.2 scoreless innings of action while striking out seven along the way.
Indianapolis scored all four of their runs in the first inning, before Pokraka came on and shut them down over the next six innings. The Greyhounds scored four times on five hits in the first inning of action. Katie Kelly scored the first run on a passed ball. Natalie Lalich then stroked a two-run single to center, and scored on Emma Varsberg's RBI double to right.
The Falcons got on the board in the top of the third, after
Shelby Stephens smacked a two-out RBI single to right field, scoring Nicole Lucciano in the process.
In the sixth, Wallace came through with a one-out RBI base hit to center field to plate
Sarah Depp, but the Falcons were held in check after that.
Stephens led the way for Notre Dame offensively in game two, going 2-for-4 with a pair of base hits.
The Falcons will wrap up their Spring Trip on Saturday, March 5, when they square off against St. Cloud State at 3 p.m., and they'll wrap up with Northern State at 5 p.m.
