Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. – The Notre Dame Falcons began their 2016 season on Saturday afternoon, and fell, 9-0, to Missouri-St. Louis in six innings.
The Falcons (0-1) were limited to just five hits in the shutout loss, while the Triton's (11-0) continued their winning ways with the victory, giving them 11 straight wins to start the season.
It was a difficult afternoon for the Falcons, playing in their first of 13 games on their spring trip over the next seven days. The Tritons scored nine times on 10 hits and capitalized on five NDC errors.
After both starting pitchers struck out the side in the first inning, the Tritons scored three times in the second inning to take the early advantage. They added another in the fourth inning, before posting three in the fifth, and two more in the top of the seventh inning to put the mercy rule into effect.

Erin Calhoun all hit safely for the Falcons. Calhoun led the way with a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 with a pair of base hits.
Ashley Pokraka (0-1) took the loss for the Falcons, despite striking out 13 batters over five innings of action. Hannah Perryman (9-0) was the winning pitcher for the Tritons, tossing six scoreless innings and fanned 11 in the process.
The Falcons are back in action again on Sunday, Feb. 28, as they continue play at the Spring Games. They'll begin with a 3 p.m. contest against Gannon (Pa.), before taking on Georgian Court at 5 p.m.
