NDC inducts 3rd Athletic Hall of Fame Class

Class of 2016 inductees honored Saturday night

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College Athletic Department hosted its third annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday night in the Performing Arts Center on NDC's campus.

Two individuals and one team were inducted in front of a capacity crowd in the PAC. Dante Rini, Nick Jordan and the 2009 NDC softball team were inducted into the Hall of Fame, marking the third class in NDC history.

Rini (2007-11) had an outstanding wrestling career with the Falcons, both on and off the mat. He was an individual national champion, and was a member of two NAIA National Championship teams for the Falcons wrestling program. Rini finished his incredible career on a 12-match winning streak, and closed out his career by winning the NAIA National Championship at 125 lbs in 2011.

Jordan (2005-07), a standout soccer player for the Falcons, earned three consecutive First Team All-American Mideast Conference honors. In addition, he was also twice-named the AMC North Player of the Year. Jordan was team captain of the 2005 men's soccer team that become the first team in NDC history to advance to the National Tournament. He finished his career with 20 goals and 43 points.

The 2009 softball team became the third team in school history to make it to the National Tournament, the second to advance to a quarterfinal, as they came one victory away from a Final Four appearance. The Falcons finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 30-9 after they went on an incredible run where they won 21 of their last 22 games to capture the American Mideast Conference regular season title. At the end of the regular season, the Falcons were ranked 25th in the country before winning their first three games at the NAIA National Tournament.

"It was a very exciting night on so many levels," said Director of Athletics Scott Swain. "To bring back these fine student-athletes and honor them was a very special occasion for the Falcon Athletics community. These two individuals and team inductees laid the foundation for the athletic successes we are experiencing today at Notre Dame College."
