PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College men's basketball team earned a road win in its first game returning from Thanksgiving break, defeating the host Lake Erie Storm, 84-73, in non-conference action.
The Falcons (4-2 overall) were led by junior forward
Will Vorhees, who scored 33 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal for NDC. Kyauta Taylor scored 25 points on 9-16 shooting while
Ja'Sean Lewis recorded a double-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds to go with four assists and two blocks.
After Taylor nailed a 3-pointer to open the game, the Falcons never trailed again. NDC took an early 18-8 lead midway through the first half en route to a 44-24 halftime lead.
With a 20-point lead at halftime, the Falcons extended their lead to 27 points, 54-27, following a three from
Drew Scarberry with 17:10 remaining in the game.
NDC continued to maintain a healthy lead throughout the second half, leading 68-49 with 8:02 remaining after Vorhees drained a pair of free throws. The junior forward then scored a lay-up on the Falcons' next possession, making the score 70-49.
The Falcons closed it out from there, winning by a final score of 84-73. With the win, the Falcons improve to 4-2 overall.
NDC will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 on the road against D1 Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
