Box Score BUCKHANNON, W.Va -- Playing their second road contest in three nights, the Notre Dame College women's basketball team won a Mountain East Conference battle with the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats, 71-57. Eleven different Falcons (6-6, 3-3 MEC) scored as NDC picked up its third straight victory.
Lauren Langenderfer led the Falcons with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.
Kelsey Miller scored 10 points on 5-7 shooting as the Falcons picked up their third MEC win of the season.
However, NDC fell behind by four, 19-15, to end the first quarter, but the Falcons regrouped between quarters.
NDC opened the second quarter on an 11-4 run, capped by a
Terrina Robinson 3-pointer. On WVWC's next possession,
Erin Haislah forced a steal and turned it into instant offense and an easy lay-up. On the next possession,
Martha Nagbe followed suit with a steal-turned-lay-up, giving the Falcons a 30-23 lead.
The Falcons outscored the Bobcats 21-6 in the second quarter, going into halftime with a 36-25 lead.
An even third quarter, 18-18, between both sides kept the Falcons with an 11-point lead going into the fourth and final quarter of the game.
Langenderfer opened the third quarter with a made jump shot, pushing NDC's lead to 13. Miller then scored consecutive baskets for the Falcons, giving NDC a 60-46 lead with 6:55 remaining in the game.
From there, the Falcons held on for a 14-point road win over the host Bobcats, 71-57. With the win, NDC improves to 6-6 overall, including a 3-3 mark in MEC play.
The Falcons return to action on Sunday, Jan. 10 at home against Concord University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Murphy Gym.
