SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- The No. 1 ranked Notre Dame College wrestling team dominated the visiting Ashland Eagles on Wednesday night in Murphy Gym, winning the meet by a final score of 37-3. The Falcons won nine of 10 matches on the night, including two wins via forfeit, as the Falcons won their first home meet of the 2015-16 season.
The meet began with the 141 lb matchup between NDC's
Andrew Bannister and AU's Bob Mason. Bannister, a 2015 National Qualifier, set the tempo of the match early, running away with an 11-0 Major Decision to give the Falcons an early 4-0 lead.
Juwan Edmond (165 lbs) also won via Major Decision, defeating AU's Brenden Stanley 17-4. At 125 lbs,
Jacob Goodwin also added a Major Decision win to his tally, winning by a final score of 16-6.
The Falcons will return to action on Sunday, Jan. 24 at home against the No. 9 Lake Erie College Storm in dual meet action. Wrestling is set to begin at 2 pm in Murphy Gym.
