Box Score
FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Playing a Saturday afternoon affair at Joe Retton Arena, the Notre Dame College Falcons defeated the host Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on the road, 77-63. The Mountain East Conference win over FSU marks NDC's sixth straight victory as the team improves to 9-6 overall, including a 6-3 mark in MEC play.

Lauren Langenderfer scored a career-high 22 points on 9-15 shooting while Martha Nagbe added 15 points in the road win for NDC. Defensively, the Falcons forced 28 turnvoers, letting defensing pressure create instant offense throughout the game.

The Falcons were off to a hot start early, leading 21-14 after one quarter of play. NDC continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring FSU 18-13, and the visiting Falcons took a 39-27 lead into halftime.

On the first possession of the second half, Kelsey Miller scored a lay-up with an assist from Jessica Garcia. Martha Nagbe then forced a steal and turned defense into offense, scoring an easy lay-up as NDC took a 43-27 lead early in the third quarter.

However, FSU would claw back. Both teams fought to a near-even battle in the third quarter, but the visiting Falcons still led by double-digits, 58-47, going into the final quarter.

Fairmont State trimmed NDC's lead to just seven, 58-51, early in the fourth quarter, but the Falcons remained poised.

On NDC's next possession, Kim Cook scored a tip-in lay-up. Martha Nagbe then converted a pair of free throws on the next possession, extending NDC's lead to double-digits again, 62-51, with 6:42 remaining.

Alyssa Kraus nailed a jumper at the 4:38 mark to give the Falcons a 67-53 lead, and a pair of free throws from Cook eventually pushed the lead to 16 points with 3:25 remaining.

From there, the Falcons held on for the road victory over the host Fighting Falcons, 77-63.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 9-6 overall, including a 6-3 mark in MEC play. NDC also now holds a six-game win streak with the impressive win over FSU.

NDC will return to action on Monday, Jan. 18 on the road at Shepherd University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
