Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Tuesday night marked another Mountain East Conference contest for the Notre Dame College women's basketball team as they hosted the Virginia-Wise Cavaliers at Murphy Gym. The Falcons eeked out an overtime win over the Cavaliers, winning by a final score of 90-84.
Martha Nagbe led the Falcons with 26 points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals. 
Lauren Langenderfer had 20 points and six rebounds while 
Kelsey Miller added 14 points and nine rebounds in the win.
Both sides fought to a close draw in the first half, with the Falcons trailing by just two, 35-33. 
Early in the third quarter, Langenderfer scored a lay-up and 
Jessica Garcia hit a 3-pointer to give NDC the lead, 38-36. However, the Cavaliers would climb back with a run of their own, winning the quarter 26-23.
The Falcons trailed by five, 61-56, going into the fourth and final quarter, and came out ready to rally.
Celine Mangan hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth, and Nagbe followed with a lay-up to cut the deficit to just two, 65-63. On NDC's next possession, 
Hope Thorbahn reeled in an offensive rebound and converted an easy lay-up, tying the score at 65 with 7:03 remaining in the game.
UVA-Wise responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead again, but Thorbahn scored another lay-up to keep the Falcons in reach.
With just two minutes remaining, Nagbe scored a lay-up to tie the score at 73. Free throws from the Cavaliers gave UVA-Wise a 77-75 lead with just 39 seconds remaining, and the Falcons with possession.
Down by two with time running out, Langenderfer proved clutch as she nailed a 3-pointer to give NDC a 78-77 lead with 30 seconds remaining. However, the Cavaliers scored a basket of their own to take back the lead, 79-78, with 19 seconds remaining.
In dire need of a basket, the Falcons turned to Nagbe, who came through with a lay-up to again give NDC the lead, this time 80-79 with just four seconds remaining. On the final possession of regulation, the whistle was blown by the referees and the Cavaliers were awarded two free throws.
Trailing by just one, 80-79, with 0.3 seconds left, UVA-Wise missed their first free throw. However, the Cavaliers hit the second shot, tying the score at 80 and forcing overtime.
In overtime, Nagbe turned a steal into a lay-up, and Thorbahn hit two free throws as NDC took an 84-80 lead with 3:32 remaining in the extra period.
With NDC leading 87-84 and less than a minute to play, Thorbahn was fouled and converted both free throws to push the lead to five, 89-84. From there, the Falcons relied on stingy defense as they held on for a hard-fought 90-84 win over UVA-Wise.
With the win, the Falcons have now won five straight and improve to 8-6 overall, including a 5-3 mark in MEC play.
NDC will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 on the road at Fairmont State University in another MEC battle. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
