Box Score 2 SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- In a mid-week, non-conference doubleheader, the Falcons played host to the visiting Malone Pioneers on Wednesday afternoon at Normandy Field. Kelsey Coleman homered twice to lead the Falcons to an 8-3 win in game one before the Pioneers won game two 9-1, ending in a series split between the two sides.

Ashley Pokraka, but the Falcons wasted no time responding. In the bottom half of the first,
Kelsey Coleman launched a mammoth home run over the left-center fence to tie the game, 1-1, after one inning.
Pokraka then worked a scoreless inning in the top of the second before the Falcons tacked one more run support.Â
In the bottom of the second,
Sarah Depp earned a one-out walk to spark the offense.
Tayler Graver then hit a ground ball to third base, but an error allowed Graver to advance to second base while Depp used her speed on the basepaths to advance three bases and score on the play, giving NDC a 2-1 lead.
Still with just one out in the inning,
Maria Vanadia was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second for NDC.
Amy Hoover ripped a single to left field, but Graver was thrown out at third on the play for the second out of the inning. With Hoover on first, Vanadia on second and two outs in the inning, Coleman hit her second home run of the game in as many innings, giving the Falcons a 5-1 lead after two innings.
Malone came back in the third inning with one run to cut NDC's lead to 5-2, but that was all as Pokraka again limited the damage.
In the bottom half of the frame, the Falcons put together another offensive rally.
Anna Myers singled to center field and
Nicole Spuhler singled to right field, creating yet another scoring opportunity for NDC. Depp then reached base via error, scoring Myers and advancing pinch runner
Nataly Ciocca to third.Â
A one-out single from Vanadia plated more runs for NDC as Ciocca scored to make the score 7-2 in favor of the Falcons. Depp later scored on a fielders choice from
Brittany Kirwin and the Falcons led 8-2 after three innings of play.
The Pioneers scored one run in the top of the fourth, but that would be their final run of the game.
After Pokraka ended the Pioneers' chances in the fourth,
Rachelle Miller came on to pitch in the top of the fifth inning. Miller pitched three scoreless innings to close out the game, leading the Falcons to an 8-3 win.
Pokraka allowed just three earned runs in four innings while Miller allowed just one hit through three innings. Coleman went 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI.

Kayla Sidorski highlighted the game for the Falcons, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run - her second of the season.
However, the Pioneers scored one run each in the first and second innings before a three-run third inning and a four-run fourth led to a 9-1 win over the Falcons.
The Falcons will next compete on Saturday, April 11 on the road at Wheeling Jesuit University in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader.Â
