Full ResultsSOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- After using the month of December to train and prepare for the Spring semester of competition, the Notre Dame College swimming and diving teams hosted the visiting Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on Friday night at Mellon Pool. The men's team battled tough but fell short against FSU, losing 125-72. However, the women's team was able to come away with an impressive 102-81 victory over FSU.
Women's Swimming and DivingIn the 1000 Freestyle, the Falcons were led by Jessie Drogemuller, who won the event with a time of 11:33.30 - six seconds better than the next best placer - earning nine team points for NDC.Â
Katie Wright also picked up a pair of first place finishes for the Falcons, as she won the 100 Butterfly (1:02.68) and the 200 IM (2:18.85). Wright's two first place performances scored 18 points for the Falcons, adding to their lead.
In the 100 Freeestyle, it was the Raquel's who scored points for NDC.
Raquel Loustau finished second with a time of 57.98, and finishing just behind her was
Raquel Licea with a time of 58.03, good for third place. Maddy Colby also finished fifth in the event to score for the Falcons.
Kelsi Turk finished second in the 200 Freestyle to earn four points for NDC, but showed her endurance with a first place finish in the 500 Freestyle (5:25.87).
Easton Noel tacked on nine more points for the Falcons with time of 1:05.99 in the 100 Backstroke, good for first place.
The Falcons defeated FSU by a final score of 102-81, beating the Fighting Falcons for the second consecutive year.
NDC will compete next on Saturday, Jan. 17 on the road against Tiffin University. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
Men's Swimming and DivingThe Notre Dame College men's swimming and diving team may have fell short against Fairmont State, the Falcons had numerous impressive performances to build upon.
James Fittro won the 1000 Freestyle and blew the competition out of the water, finishing in 10:29.40 - more than 20 seconds better than second place. Fittro also finished third in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:01.15.
In the 500 Freestyle,
Andrew Brandt secured a second place finish with a time of 5:20.76, scoring four points for NDC. Brandt finished third in the 200 IM to pick up three team points for NDC, finishing in 2:07.83.
In the 100 Breastroke,
Hunter Bell answered the call for NDC, finishing first with a final time of 1:02.45.
Sean Murphy also took second place in the same event, scoring two more points for the Falcons.
However, NDC fell short against FSU, losing 125-72.
The Falcons will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 17 on the road against Tiffin University. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
