SALEM, Va. – The Notre Dame College softball team claimed their second win at the Mountain East Conference tournament with a 6-4  win over Fairmont State on Thursday evening in Salem Va.

The Falcons (24-28-1) who are the sixth seed in the tournament defeated the third seeded Fighting Falcons (29-16) with a come from behind victory that included a grand slam homerun from

NDC took an early lead in the top of the first as Coleman and
Rachelle Miller (New Castle, Pa. , Mohawk) singled.Maria Vanadia (Medina, Ohio, Medina HS) would reach on a fielder's choice before Anissa Kotoch (Willoughby Hills, Ohio, Kent State University) singled to score Miller. 

Fairmont State however would take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and then extend their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
NDC would respond with a Coleman grand slam in the top of the sixth to claim a 5-3 lead. Christine Camp (Sterling, Ohio, Loudonville) singled, Kayla Sidorski (Eastlake, Ohio, Willoughby South) reached on a fielder's choice, Nicole Spuhler (Massillon, Ohio, Washington ) singled to center field and Alex McKinley (Mantua, Ohio, Crestwood HS) was walked to load the bases for Coleman. Coleman would hit her home run to center field to record her first grand slam of the season. 

Fairmont State would pull a run back in the bottom of the sixth but NDC would add a run in the top of the seventh after a single from Vanadia and a Jessica Cavallero double. Ndc would blank Fairmont in the bottom of the seventh to secure a 6-4 victory. 

On the mound for NDC
Ashley Hall (North Canton, Ohio, Hoover) claimed her second victory of the day and her fifteenth of the year.
 
NDC were led Coleman who went 2 for 4 including her grand slam homerun. Catcher Vanadia had three hits to complete an impressive day at the plate, going 5 for 8 over the two games on Thursday.

With the win the Falcons move to 2-0 in the tournament and will advance to play the second seed UVA-Wise in the winners bracket. The Falcons will take on the Cavaliers on Friday May 2. at 5 p.m.
