Follow @NDC_Softball on InstagramSHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Notre Dame College softball dropped a pair of games on Sunday to Shepherd University in Mountain East Conference play. The Rams (12-18, 3-9 MEC) took game one 7-1 and claimed a 3-2 victory in game two over the Falcons (13-18, 6-6 MEC).
In game one the Rams took a 2-0 lead in bottom of the third inning. The Falcons pulled a run back in top of the fourth, after
Jessica Cavallero reached on a fielders choice and was then scored by a
Nataly Ciocca single to center field. The Rams, however would add five runs in the bottom of the fifth to claim the 7-1 victory.
Game two was a dramatic affair with the Falcons and Rams tied 2-2 going into the seventh inning. The Falcons opened the scoring in the top of the first after
Kelsey Coleman singled through the left side and then scored thanks to a sacrifice fly from
Kayla Sidorski.
Shepherd would tie the game in the bottom of the third, before the Falcons reclaimed the lead as
Christine Camp singled up the middle and then scored on an infield error. The Rams would tie the game again in the bottom of the fifth, both teams would go scoreless in the sixth inning and the teams were tied 2-2 going into the seventh.
The Falcons were unable to score in the top of the seventh before the Rams scored the game winner in the bottom of the seventh to claim the 3-2 victory.
NDC will return to action on Tuesday April 8, when they host the Fighting Scots from Edinboro on Normandy Field, first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
