SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — The Notre Dame College softball team finished their regular season schedule with a double header split against West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon on Nromandy Field. The Falcons (22-28-1, 11-12-1 MEC) won game two 2-0 after dropping game one 7-0 to the Bobcats (38-10, 23-5 MEC).

In game one the Bobcats, who secured the MEC regular season title on Saturday at Urbana, limited the Falcons to just four hits and scored seven runs on nine hits to claim a 7-0 victory.

The Falcons, however would bounce back in game two and hand the Bobcats just their fifth MEC defeat of the season with a 2-0 victory. NDC opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, Kelsey Coleman (Suffield, Ohio, Field) singled up the middle before advancing to second on a Rachelle Miller (New Castle, Pa. , Mohawk) sac bunt. Coleman would advance to third on a Maria Vanadia (Medina, Ohio, Medina HS) ground out and then score on an Anissa Kotoch (Willoughby Hills, Ohio, Kent State University) single to shortstop.

The Falcons doubled their lead in the second inning as Christine Camp (Sterling, Ohio, Loudonville) singled and then stole second to lead off the inning. Nicole Spuhler (Massillon, Ohio, Washington ) would single to advance Camp to third and was then scored by a Kayla Sidorski (Eastlake, Ohio, Willoughby South) sac fly to right field.

The two run lead would be enough for the Falcons as Ashley Hall (North Canton, Ohio, Hoover) limited the Bobcats to eight hits and some solid defense shut the Bobcats out. The 2-0 win was Hall's 13th of the season and her third shut out.

With the split the Falcons finish the regular season in sixth place in the MEC. NDC will now head to the Mountain East Conference Softball Championship which are being played at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va. With their sixth place finish the Falcons will face eleventh placed Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday May 1 at 2:30 p.m.
